What the “L”?

June 19, 2009

What the “L” is LilSis up to?

  • Longingly thinking of D and wishing he was here with us for Father's Day.
  • Leaving for Chicago tomorrow.
  • Looking forward to seeing the kids and grandkids.
  • Laboring over month-end accounting so I'm not too behind when we return.
  • Laundering all the guys' clothes for the trip.
  • Lunching with my friend, V.
  • Loving that I just got the okay from the Dr. to take the boot off my foot!

I’m sorry you gals have to miss seeing your dad on Father’s Day. I know it’s only been 2½ years for you and it still must feel like a different experience.

I don’t think about my dad on Father’s Day typically. My thoughts of him come at the most random times, like when I’m driving and I think of something profound or hilarious or insightful I want to share with him and realize that I can’t. The tears spring to my eyes so suddenly. Just like you, I hope (and like to think) he’d be proud of me if he could see me now.

Much love to you both over this weekend.

I’m glad the boot can finally come off. And I hope you have a lovely time in Chicago. Safe travels, Lil Sis!

Thanks so much, Melissa for taking the time to leave us such a thoughtful comment.

You’re so right about the random thoughts or random moments that and will instantly bring tears. For me, it does happen a lot when I’m driving, (I guess that’s because our mind wanders?) or when I used to run. I’d hear some lyrics of a song on my iPod that would trigger some memory with my Dad…

Thanks again for the well wishes.

    Good one, Grace!!
I’m not a big fan of doing laundry either. 🙂

I’d much rather have lunch with friends. Too bad we don’t have a clone at home doing the laundry for us while we’re out lunching!
