This toffee recipe is awesome. I've made it bunches, and it always come out great IF you follow the directions. Don't get all loosy-goosy with the method! I've found that store-brand butter doesn't work as well as Land O' Lakes, and a good heavy pan is important.

My last batch was setting up just as the Christmas Eve snow was blowing in, so it was way damp and the toffee didn't get as crunchy as it always does, so keep humidity in mind. I've also tried it with pecans as the Baked cookbook directs, and couldn't tell any difference from the almonds. I do like using completely crushed almonds on top as they recommend. Awesome toffee! We sold all of it at the Bake Sale!
