Missing Me Some Lost Already

May 15, 2009

There's so much going on in TV-land this week!  American Idol is down to the top two finalists now (sorry, Danny, I didn't vote), Dancing with the Stars is down to the top three couples, Gray's Anatomy had their season finale episode last night, and The Biggest Loser wrapped up this week. Those are the big ones I know about and I'm sure there are lots of others.  But do I care about any of these shows?  Nope.  All I care about is one thing…Lost!  Wednesday night's episode is the last one that I'll see before the final season starts.  I think I'm mourning it already.  Lost is the one show I faithfully watch without fail.  I'll watch Idol and enjoy it, but it's no biggie if I miss it.  Do I miss a minute of Lost?  Oh, hell, no!

So what happened Wednesday night?  What didn't happen!  These are the notes I scribbled down to talk about with my fellow “Losties”:

  • So Jacob met young Kate stealing?  And young Sawyer at his parents' funeral?  And Sayid when Nadia died?  And Alanna in bandages? And John Locke after he flew out the window?  And Sun and Jin at their wedding?  And Jack at the hospital?  And Hurley outside the prison?   And he was speaking all those languages?  And flying around in time?  What the heck does it MEAN??
  • What's in the guitar case Jacob left in the cab with Hurley?
  • How long had Jacob been living at the giant statue?  Why is there only an ankle and a foot left?  How did Jacob get there?  Who was the other guy who wanted to kill him?
  • Is Jacob really dead?  How could he let Ben kill him?  Surely he knew it was coming!
  • What's the deal with Jacob being so kind and caring?  Didn't we think he'd be monster-ish?  He was downright nice!
  • Why did the other plane survivors, led by Alanna, turn weird?  Or maybe they were always weird and we're just now seeing it.  What does it mean that they think Lapidus is a candidate?
  • We were all digging the new confident John Locke, right?  But now we have a question.  WHO IS THE NEW LOCKE??  Did the dude looking for a loophole just assume John's identity?  What??
  • Hasn't Jack changed a TON since getting back to the island?  First, he's Mr. Philosophical Man…it's our destiny, the island wants this or that, blabbedy blah.  Second, he's Mr. Gun-Toting Man.  Have we ever seen him shoot anyone?  I can't recall it if we have, but he was shooting anything that moved this week, like he'd just channeled Dirty Harry.  And, thirdly, now he's Mr. Fight Club?  He and Sawyer have definitely been building up to the Mother of All Fights for years, but this was a bloody doozie!  What would have happened if they'd been allowed to fight to the death?
  • On a lighter note, what was the point of finding Bernard and Rose playing house in the jungle?  I was kind of hoping we'd seen the last of wimpy Bernard.  But it was nice to see that dear old Vincent was still a survivor.
  • Once the nuke had been tossed into the hole, why were these people all standing around the drill site pickin' their dirty noses??  Wouldn't you run like heck?  I would.  But that's just me.
  • Ok, as much as I loved this last episode, there's one thing I'm just not buying, and that's the whole mind-changing thing going on with the girls.  Juliet is so convinced – by her nemesis Kate, no less – of the wrongness of Jack's bomb plan that she gives up her last chance to get off the island, while she's in the ding dang sub, for cryin' out loud?  But 5 minutes later, she's changed her mind?  Huh?  And increasingly-annoying Kate is on her self-righteous white horse to stop Jack from making this mortal error, but five minutes later, she's changed her mind too??  What?  I get it…a woman's prerogative is to change her mind, but I didn't buy it this time.  Sorry, it seemed contrived to me.
  • So we think we've seen the last of Juliet.  Finally!  Whew!  Isn't it ironic that she's been so periodically untrustworthy and generally irritating, and now she may actually turn out to be a martyr and secret hero for cussing out the bomb and bashing it with a rock?  That is, if the bomb plan worked…once it blew, did it work?

Those are my thoughts, although I should say those are my questions.  Isn't that what we love about Lost though?  That as much as we learn, we always have more questions and we can never predict what will happen?  Oh, and there's one more thing that I love about Lost.

Did you think I could leave Lost til next season without a little more deliciosity to get us through these long, cold, lonely months?  Oh, hell, no!

What the “L”?!

March 4, 2009

What the “L” is BigSis up to?

  • Loving the thought of taking long after-work walks next week…thanks to Daylight Savings Time!  Bring it on!
  • Looking forward to spring.  It's been a weird winter in Texas this year.
  • Lusting over tonight's Lost reunion episode!
More of this tonight??

More of this tonight??

  • Lunching on these meatless Gourmet GardenSteaks in the Baja variety.  These are not your usual critter-free patties; they're very delicious, well-seasoned and filling.
  • Livid that I got suckered into this season's Bachelor!  Livid, I tell you!  Snarl!

And most of all:

  • Lifting up in prayer all those around me going through a rough time…my friend who just lost her dad, my friend whose long-time BF just came to light as a long-time cheater, my friend who's trying to discern if her dating relationship is of God or not, my friend whose brother is struggling with the path his life is taking, and LilSis and her family dealing with Sarah's increasing health problems.  Love all of you!

Fun with Lost!

February 17, 2009

Here we are early in the week, approaching a new “Lost” episode!  I'm still not used to having a new episode every week after that long break, and it's a fun little surprise when I remember that Wednesdays bring a fresh show!  You probably know there are tons of us crazed Lost fans out there, but did you know about all of these fun Lost things?  I didn't until I started digging around, and then I couldn't find a stopping place…there are gobs of these goodies out there!

  • Sawyer's Nickname Generator.  Have you see this?  You have to try it, it's oodles of fun.  Sawyer's nickname for me is Mighty Huntress.  I like it!  I think if he knew I was a long-time vegetarian, he might have another name for me, but for now Mighty Huntress it is!  And while we're talking about Sawyer, let me bless you with another photo.  You're welcome!
Finding these photos is hard work, but for our readers, no sacrifice is too much!

Finding these photos is hard work, but no sacrifice is too great for you!

  • Video and Audio Podcasts.  ABC puts out new podcasts each week, which you can download to your computer or to iTunes.  The February 12 podcast featured some insights from the gentleman who plays Daniel Faraday, and ran a little over 4 minutes.
  • iGoogle Widget.  I added this to my iGoogle home page.  This week we've gotten video, photo galleries and Lost news.
  • Jorge Garcia's blog.  Did you know that Jorge (Hurley) has a blog?  It's called Dispatches from the Island, and it looks like Jorge's been blogging since 2007.  Check out his post on the cool cake that Duff and the gang from Charm City Cakes did for the show's 100th episode!  You've seen the Ace of Cakes on Food Network, right?
  • Lost Magazine.  I had no idea there was a magazine.  Trying.  Not.  To.  Subscribe.
  • Lost-TV: the Unofficial Fan Site.  This site is so full of goodies: show transcripts, episode summaries and reviews, news, links, and more.
Another photo? I can't stop myself!

Oh dear, another photo?  How'd that get in there?  Oh well, enjoy, my friends!

Are you watching Lost??

February 6, 2009

I'm not a big TV watcher.  It's not because my social calendar is too booked, or because I have very trendy cool moral/social objections to it that make me very righteous.  I just don't have any ding dang time to watch television.  And I do have to admit that I don't like most of what airs, except for the occasional episode of American Idol and Top Chef.

But I do have one TV obsession that I will totally fess up to.  One show that I do not EVER miss NOT EVER NOT EVER, and that is “Lost”!  I've been a fan since episode one, and this show has kept me hanging on through delays and the writer's strike and indefinite season postponements.  I'm addicted to the beautiful Hawaiian scenery, the quirky plot twists and the wonderfully odd characters.  And, one more confession…I have a little bad boy crush on Sawyer.  Admit it…you do too.  ;-D  We know we should like Jack, but we do love us some Sawyer!

Bad Boy Con-Man Sawyer

Bad Boy Con-Man Sawyer

We've had 3 episodes in this season so far, and we've had some questions answered.  Miracles of all miracles!  Can you believe it?    But I still have more questions, always more questions.

  • How are these folks getting back to the island?
  • Can Ben go back?  Would he be the leader again?
  • How are they going to convince Sun to go back and leave her baby?
  • Is Claire's mom *really* as innocent as she seems?
  • Was there anything funnier than when cry baby Neal got shot with that flaming arrow?
  • Is Daniel Faraday less the benevolent, bumbling scientist, and more of a villain?
  • Is John Locke really dead?
  • Is there something menacing or weird about baby Aaron?
  • Could Sayid's hair possibly be any greasier?  Does he have a secret stash of hair gel that we don't know about?
  • Would anyone care if Charlotte, Juliet and Miles all died from this brain displacement malady?
  • What would have happened if Sawyer spoke to Kate when he saw her in the past delivering Aaron?
  • What would happen if one of the characters ran across themselves in a time travel episode?
  • Is Penny going to die at Ben's hand as he promised?
  • Why does Charles Widmore feel Ben stole his island from him?  Did he think he was the “heir to the throne” when Ben came along, perhaps?
  • Why does Richard wear so much eyeliner?  Does it have something to do with his agelessness?  If he doesn't age, why did he have to wear reading glasses to remove the bullet from Locke's leg?

If you think you know any of these answers, please share them with me!  Only 5 more days til the next episode!  Not that I'm counting.  I do have a life you know.
