Is it just me, or are the Christmas specials airing earlier and earlier each year? On Monday, we had the Shrek Christmas special followed by the Grinch. On Tuesday, we had Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and on Wednesday we had Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. At this rate, we'll be out of Christmas shows to watch by the weekend!
I know that retailers put Christmas merchandise in the stores as soon as possible in order to get every possible sale. That makes sense to me. But I don't get why these TV shows come on so early. Are the networks afraid that the ratings will be lower if the shows come on later in the month, thinking that we'll all be at parties instead of gathered around the tube? It doesn't bother me, it just baffles me. I've missed my favorite (Rudolph) several times because it came on while I was still doing Thanksgiving dishes! Well, not really, but almost! Next year, will we be watching the Grinch before we go out to watch the Fourth of July fireworks? Just wondering. What do you think?

I don’t know why they are on so early this year! Hopefully, they will keep repeating them all the way to Christmas. Last night HayHay and I ended up home alone and were sitting down to eat dinner when Rudolph came on the t.v. He actually wanted to watch it. We had fun singing ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ together. (I have to take advantage of those moments since my little boy is becoming a man!)

I agree about showing the holiday shows too early! The other night I was flipping through the channels and I stopped on two that I thought were commercials, because they were animated or otherwise not “real.” After a while I figured out that they were Christmas shows! Maybe LilSis is right and they will replay them. The thing I noticed this year was that many people had their Christmas lights up before Thanksgiving. I have never noticed that before. Someone commented that maybe they hire people to hang their lights, and they were told they had to do it early or not at all. Whatever the case, I really don’t like it. When it doesn’t feel like Christmas (which to me is after Thanksgiving) seeing decorations, products for sale, TV shows or lights make about as much sense as seeing them in July.

I hope they rerun some of them. I’d like to see Rudolph again.
At least – SO FAR – they save “It’s a Wonderful Life” for later in the season! It usually plays on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Now THAT’S a good Christmas movie!
