From time to time, MAC will weed out it's inventory and a bunch of products will disappear forever.  I got an email from MAC the other day, and the weeding out is happening right now!

I noticed some of my eyeshadows on the list: French Cuff, Bold and Brazen, and Flip. Flip is a color (bronze gold frost) that would look really good on you, LilSis, so if you don't have it, make sure you grab yourself one before it's too late.  Besides lots of eyeshadows, MAC is also retiring lipsticks, lipglasses, lipliners, blush, eyelashes, eye liners, you name it!  These way cool tri-color lipglasses are going too.  I have one in Just Dessert and I love it.

Good morning, everyone!  We hope you had a most egg-cellent Easter, as we did!  It seems like it is officially spring now, since Easter is behind us, and kids are on spring break or just finished their break.

There's something about spring and vacation time that makes me want new makeup.  I don't know why, it just does.  Maybe it's that spring is like a fresh start or a new day.  At any rate, it can be really helpful for me to see a visual tutorial of new makeup, rather than just trying to wing it myself, which sometimes ends badly!

I found this cool video tutorial on MAC's sculpted eye on their web site.  There are 4 other tutorial videos you can view, all from MAC Makeup Artists.  There's one on a smoky eye, a perfect red lip, a sculpted lip, and classic eyeliner.  The tutorials are very easy to follow, and they provide a list of the products and tools that you need to recreate the look.

I also found a great tutorial on a spring eye from Miss Chevious. You might remember that we featured some of her videos on fun eye looks a while back.

Due to some major technical difficulties yesterday, I am not writing today about what I had originally intended. I had numerous software problems which caused me to have to uninstall and reinstall several programs. I also had problems downloading my photos to my laptop (which still isn't resolved). But the icing on the cake was when I realized that I had lost a couple of hours worth of input on my post for today.

My first instinct was to find the nearest wall to kick. (Luckily I was still thinking straight enough to realize that I might break a toenail if I did that, so I decided against it.)

Once I walked away, I tried to calmly ask myself, so what are my choices here?

1. Go sit in a corner and cry.
2. Find someone to yell at.
3. Have a total mental meltdown.
4. Drive to the nearest MAC counter.
5. Post about something else today.
6. Call BigSis for sympathy.

I opted for #5! I don't think any of the first three options would have made me feel any better. And I had already gone to the MAC counter once this week so I decided that wouldn't be very responsible, either.

So, since I opted not to go buy a new MAC product, I thought I could at least share this interview with you that I ran across today on The Beauty of Life.  Since BigSis and I are both obsessed with MAC, I thought this would be an okay alternative to what I had originally intended on posting today. The interview is with Gregory Arlt, who has been a Senior Makeup Artist with MAC for over 15 years. He did Cher's makeup for this Living Proof Album Cover.

He has had a very interesting career. I hope you enjoy the interview. It's about all I can ‘muster' up for today. Oh, and I did also call BigSis for sympathy!

Sorry to hear about the untimely death of all your houseplants, BigSis!! That's a real bummer! I hate it when something like that happens that is absolutely no one's fault but your own! You had some beautiful, unique plants! I know you're just sick about it! Are you going to try to replace them or wait a while to give yourself time to mourn?

Not that this compares at all with the death of all your beloved houseplants, but I've been mad at myself for the past two days because I thought I lost my new Hello Kitty Mac cosmetic bag. 🙁 (I know, boo hoo!)

I had become very attached to that bag and it contained five of my favorite MAC lipsticks, including the two new Hello Kitty lipsticks. I called the grocery store twice to have them check their lost and found because it's the only place I could remember where I might have taken the bag out of my purse to get my wallet out. Of course, they said no one had turned it in.

Today, I was just about ready to accept the fact that it was gone and move on. Then, this morning, SirHoney found my bag somewhere in his truck and he walked in with it in his hand and just said “You owe me big time”.   🙂

He's right.  I do! I'm sure he'll think of something he wants in return!

We really don't like to whine and complain too much here but I promise this will be my last rant for a while. I'm so aggravated at myself about this! Over the past several months, BigSis talked about the Borba anti-cellulite products and BigSis talked more about Borba results and I shared my results with the Borba Products; yet I let myself run out of the contour creme! DUH!

When the tube started sputtering, I should have ordered more instead of waiting until it was practically gone! I had no choice but to hack into the tube with some scissors so I can try to scrape out enough to last a couple of days.

I'm not wasting a drop of this stuff!

And yes, IMHO, this product is worth the trouble! I even paid extra S&H so I could receive it in two days. Whew! I feel better now. I'm over it!

Over the next several days, we'll get back to talking about more cheerful stuff; like Spring in Texas, Easter Bunny cakes, Easter menus, and BigSis' and SisMamas' upcoming trip to California.

Maybe I'll have time soon to talk about some new MAC and Urban Decay products that I couldn't resist buying!

Hello, everyone!  I hope you had a good St. Patrick's Day, but not so good that you're feeling a little green today due to the cocktail flu!

It seems like we were just gushing on and on about the MAC Hello Kitty Collection that purred into town and was gone before we could scoop the litterbox!  Well, MAC has come out with another new collection already. It's called Sugarsweet and it's precious!  Here is MAC's description of it:

Hello Kitty! Hello MAC Hello Kitty, that is! I had to go say hello to this new Hello Kitty MAC Collection in person. I just couldn't buy any of this new collection online without seeing the colors in person! If you're a MAC fan, you've gotta check these out; and soon!

I thought the eyeshadow compacts were adorable and I probably would have used three out of the four colors, but I really like my shadows in their individual compacts; makes it easier for recycling.

Both tinted lip conditioners were really nice colors, Popster and Pink Fish, but I know those won't stay on long, so I resisted even though they were in precious compacts!

I really wanted the compact purse mirror, but they were sold out. The mirrors are already being sold on Ebay for over $40.00!! I came home with the petite cosmetic bag and two adorable lipsticks!

Oh, I'm so happy with my MAC purchase…But HayHay definitely tried to burst my little ‘happy with my MAC purchase'  bubble. I ran over to the MAC counter right before I had to pick him and his buddies up from the mall. (I actually volunteered to pick them up so I could run into Macy's).

When we get in the car, he nonchalantly glances into my MAC bag and since it's clear, he noticed the Hello Kitty cosmetic bag. So, HayHay says “You didn't just buy something Hello Kitty, did you?” And, I say “Yes, I did, isn't it cute?”  He responds “What are you, eight?”  (He was just kidding when he said it, obviously trying to get a response from me.) But, I just replied, “Hey, Hello Kitty is cool and you're just not cool enough to know it's cool!” (That's a real grown up thing to say to your child, right?)

MAC Hello Kitty is here! Meow!

Here kitty, kitty, kitty!  This MAC collection has been talked about, whispered about, blogged about, and meowed about more than any other MAC collection in recent memory.  Talk about anticipation!  Will MAC's Hello Kitty collection live up to all the hype though?

The collection features Hello Kitty Mild and Hello Kitty Wild products, including two shadow quads, glitter eyeliner (I accidentally typed litter eyeliner…I guess litterbox wouldn't be an appealing color.  Ha!), mascara, powder blush, beauty powder, eyelashes, lipstick, lipglass, tinted lip conditioner, pigment, glitter, and nail lacquer.  There is also a line of Hello Kitty accessories like a brush set, bracelet, purse mirror, makeup bags, tote bag, and a stuffed Kitty.

I got an email from MAC on Saturday with a free shipping offer on a $60 purchase, so I skipped over to the site to see what kinds of Hello Kitty goodies I might be tempted by.  Well, guess what?  Bunches of items in this collections are already sold out, and I don't know if they'll be restocked or not since the Live Chat feature on the MAC site isn't available on weekends so I couldn't ask.  I'm afraid this is a case of once it's gone, it's gone. My advice would be to grab what you want in this collection without delay, either through the web site or a retail store if you're fortunate enough to live near one as I do.

If you think about hot pink, lavender, silver and deep sea green, you'll have a picture of the colors in this collection.  They may not be for everyone, but that's the fun of MAC.  If you wait five minutes, something new will come along that you'll love.  Plus, who knows?  You may have never thought about a lavender lipstick, but when you try it, you find that it's perfect for you.  Some of these colors and products wouldn't be appropriate for my office life, but there are some standouts in the collection that I want.  You KNOW how I love pink, so this collection is right up my alley!

Most MAC Eyeshadow fanatics know about the MAC Cosmetic Recycling Program! It's such a happy, happy day when I discover that I've just emptied my sixth eye shadow container.

It's simple. I return the six empties to any MAC counter and in exchange, I get to choose a free lipstick! I  also just ran out of both my MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer and my MAC Select Sheer Loose Powder at the same time! Now, I had no choice but to go to the MAC Counter today!

BigSis just mentioned how much she loves the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I've never tried it because I've been happy with my MAC Prep + Prime Eye. I might have to give the Urban Decay a try just to compare the two, since BigSis likes it so much!

I haven't yet had a chance to mention the beautiful new MAC Eyeshadow color that Bo gave me for Christmas. It's called Wintersky and it's a gorgeous color. It's amazing that she was able to choose a color that I didn't already have. So, while I was at the  MAC counter, I purchased another Wintersky since it's a limited edition shade. I also picked up a new color called French Cuff! Lucky for my wallet, I was in a huge rush when I ran into Macy's so I couldn't linger over all the lovely new shades! I'll save that for another day.

It's so much fun to go pick out a FREE lipstick; so, whatever you do, DO NOT throw away those MAC eyeshadow empties!
